Shirly and I on another adventure:
Shirly decided she wanted to try out the Expat Salon - a salon here in Moscow opened specifically for the expat community living in Moscow (English Speaking). We hopped in a taxi to get us to the salon (a measly 200 rubles - $4 Cdn) and arrived with a warm welcome by the receptionist - Sasha. Shirly was whisked off for her pampering and I went in to get my manicure. It was a lovely experience and for our first time there we were treated to 15% off. I actually received 30% off because my manicurist was late arriving and so we got started 20 minutes late. I still received the full deluxe manicure and she was an absolute perfectionist when it came to the cuticle. She must have worked on that for a good 40 minutes! Ya, they were that bad! I didn't think to take any pictures from the salon, but I'd recommend it.
After the salon we started wandering around and came across this interesting clothing shop, which of course, we could not resist and they were having a big sale. It was a clothing designer made in Moscow and it was very unique and beautiful knits mostly. I ended up trying on several things, but only bought one navy/white striped sweater - a very light sweater. Gorgeous! Again, sorry, no photos and I cannot even remember the name of the shop! Shirly has the bag from the shop and she's gone, so I can't even ask her. Oh wait! There's the bag in the picture below - Brushnika I think it says. We asked those ladies for a recommendation for lunch and they sent us around the corner. We decided against it. It was very busy and crowded and we wanted a more relaxing lunch. So, off we went to Patriarch's Pond and the little cafe there. It was perfect!
Me with my purchases from the salon and Brushnika.Actually, I'm wearing my new sweater! Behind me is Patriarch's Pond. |
The name of the cafe on Patriarch's Pond - just says "Pavilion Cafe" |

We had some visitors come right up to us at our table - which was one foot away from this platform in the water - so lovely. They groomed themselves with no concern for us. |
The cafe from around the pond - we had been sitting right in the middle of the lower patio area. Gorgeous! |
After our lovely lunch we wandered around the area a bit because it's a really neat area - very hip with lots of restaurants with little patios. Shirly really liked it also and we vowed to come back with our hubbies before patio season was over for the season. We were walking for a little bit and decided to take a taxi home, so I said "ok, let's just walk up to this main street to catch the taxi from" and when we got up there I actually realized exactly where we were and we really weren't that far from home, so we decided to walk. It was a PERFECT day - weather wise and good time with my friend Shirly wise - so even the walk back was great. To top it all off we stopped at our little Italian clothing/shoe shop around the corner from us. Nothing purchased, but still fun to try!
Thank you Shirly!
:)
