Ice Sculptures at Park Pobedy (Victory Park) January 2017

Ice Sculptures: Victory Park
It says "50 year victory"

Cool sculpture

Matryoshka doll sculpture - cute!

loosely translated as "here starts Russia" - with bears - too bad the sculptures were covered in so much snow, but it was a beautiful, mild night. We missed the Christmas decorations by 1 day.

Nice pose love...

Monkey in a barrel

Naturally, when I saw this Kremlin slide, I had to try it

Craig discovered a new setting on the camera that takes snapshots of action... if I had my own little saucer I`d have gone MUCH faster, but I came unprepared. I wanted to borrow one, but didn`t do it.
Here I go!

It went pretty fast for just on my butt!

Waving to my biggest fan! lol

Trying to stay upright as I wave
Good thing I didn't have a saucer because that is a kid crashing into the bean bags at the end to slow him down on his saucer! The slide was free with your admission ticket of 350 Rubles per person

My little ice angel

I`m from Canada... I had to pose in the igloo! Above me it says "se novum godum" meaning "Happy New Year"! Literally translated I think it says "with new year"

Posing on my ice throne proved a little difficult... Craig captured my expression as I started to slide off.

And then I composed myself! lol

Craig was supposed to pose on the unicorn, but he couldn`t lift his inflexible leg high enough, so up I went... bad idea. The heat from my body melted the ice (thus the reason for the hole I guess - from previous posers) and my pants were therefore wet on the way home - yuck!
It was a lovely evening out with my hubby.
How many workers does it take to clear the ice off the street in front of the Oligarch's place? Definition of Oligarch - a person who belongs to a small group of people who govern or control a country, business, etc.

NYE 2016/17

New Year's Eve  - 2016/17
Moscow, Russia

Not much needs to be said about these photos - we had a great time, what can I say?
Thank you Judy for hosting a great NYE party! Thank you also for everyone who brought all the delicious food.
It's pretty awesome to be so close to the Kremlin.

How I did not fall backwards in this shot, I have no idea!

Little boys and fire = happiness

Ania & Piotr our Polish-American friends! Cheers!

It was wonderful to have the Kremlin in the background for the fireworks. Unfortunately this year, the fireworks were disappointing. The weather was also too hazy to see them well.

We were a loud, rowdy bunch - so much for blending in and not drawing attention to ourselves!

Seriously Nancy, put the bottle down! lol

Cheers everyone!
Happy & healthy 2017!

Christmas 2016 in Moscow

Christmas in Moscow - 2016

The metro - at 6 pm on a weekday!

We finally made it to White Rabbit - ranked #18 in the WORLD! I'm not sure about that, but the atmosphere was definitely great. I need to go back in the evening though - the lighting would be gorgeous. We went with our US friends Tim & Elisa and their daughter. We neglected to get a picture of all of us though!
Cute!

Love, love, love the decor

Craig... before the bill (lol) and before Tim & Elisa arrived

The $30 bread basket - you've got to be kidding me!
The very unique butter holder - looks kind of like chocolate... or something worse

A free pre-dinner snack - turnip I believe it was

Craig... after the bill (lol)

One of the many trees around town - this one near Red Square

"Se novim godim" - meaning basically Happy New Year
